For Antoine Dolberry, a music teacher at PS 103 in the Bronx, the seventh annual District 11 Scholarship Dinner on March 28 hit all the right notes. “Celebrations like these are what keep us motivated and focused on what is most important — our scholars,” said Dolberry, who received a Rookie Teacher Award. In all, eight students, two principals, three PTA presidents, eight teachers and three paraprofessionals were recognized. “When others acknowledge my work and the impact it has had on my scholars and school community, it reinforces the value of music education and motivates everyone to take it a bit more seriously,” Dolberry said. UFT District 11 Representative Dana Falciglia, who organized the event, was thrilled — but not surprised — that 540 educators, students, family and friends attended. “I love the way our district comes out to celebrate one another,” Falciglia said. “And considering the demands on education right now, it’s heartwarming to be able to have a night to come out and celebrate.”
